BLOG BREAK Stats and Synopses

Nick Cross presents his fortnightly selection of must-read blogs.

It was National Libraries Week last week, so here's Natascha Biebow plus some of the Picture Book Den gang to celebrate the joy of libraries.

And now for some statistics. Wait, don't run away, because Ellie Rose McKee has been doing some fascinating number crunching to analyse her success rate with poetry and short story submissions. And for anyone wondering (like Ellie) whether anyone has collected stats for their novel submissions, that would be me!

Catherine Rosevear has been collecting similar stats, but all about her competition entries. In her blog post, she discusses why she enjoys entering writing competitions.

Claire Fayers is making jam. Or is she writing? Her blog post for An Awfully Big Blog Adventure combines a bit of both.

Finally, are you a plotter or a pantser? If you're in the latter category, Tamsin Cooke makes the case for at least writing a synopsis before you start the story.

Nick.
